What started out as a typical 'holy ghost fire' fasting service at the New Testament Church of God at Water Lane in Montego Bay ended abruptly in murder. A vibrant church service in the city proper was shattered by gunfire on Wednesday, leaving a choir member dead at the doorway as worshippers screamed “Jesus! Jesus!” and fled in panic.
Reports indicate that a man drove up to the entrance of the church, exited his vehicle and shot the woman multiple times.She was assisted to Cornwall Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Cora Thompson, a member of the New Testament Church of God on Water Lane in St James, where she worshipped as well as sang on the choir.
